working statement for the pinkard gallery show

Psychic Friends is a collective founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 2007.

We partake in an ongoing exploration the collective’s identity, as a physical being and our collective consciousness. Through a series of group drawings and assemblages we aim to create a unified aesthetic, making coherent and unique work and becoming comfortable with occupying each other’s space. We loosely organize performances and events in addition to draw as well as self-publishing zines and documentation of the events. Zines created include documentation of the entire collective giving each other haircuts, a box set of zines loosely based on a mix cd created by the collective, as well as a wide variety of images. Performances include a 24-hour “orgy ” in which all members of the collective were made to interact with each other for a full day. The purpose of this exercise was to understand the physical limitations and strengths of the group and to become better acquainted with individual members. Group and solo work can be found at www.psychicfriends.org.

"...in addition to draw as well as ..."
that sounds a little weird. would "in addition to drawing" or "in addition to creating" make more sense?

sounds great otherwise.

um, is this going to be the actual statement for the show? Because i think the future work we make for the show and whatever else will not be so bound up in the past work. I'm not sure if what i'm saying makes sense, i'm just wondering if we can change the statement or if it's going to be definitive.

probably it will be changeable. I hope so at least, because it seems like this new work will have some different stuff going on. Maybe they just want to see some kind of statement

I think this is just an artist statement rather than a statement for the show...
